The company I do IT for has an old Sybase SQL Anywhere database running on Windows 2000 that stopped running.

I see this as an opportunity to decommission it and migrate it to a new OS, but previous IT left no passwords for dbo.

I did retrieve a read-only login by decrypting the ODBC connection in the registry but but am unable to perform any administration such as unload, convert, migrate etc.

After a few months off and on of experimenting with various options I tried to see if I could use Cain Abel, Medusa or a similar tool to brute force it or crack it.

I am new to these tools but it looks to me like I need a hash and salt for this to be of any use and all sources have pointed to this version of Sybase not having any hashes available.

I have begun to accept the answer of its dead, Jim.

So it will not surprise me if there is no good answer.
